Kalliopi Tsampa has graduated from the Physics Department of the University of Athens (2017) presenting a BSc diploma work entitled: “Construction and Characterization of nuclear targets using Rutherford Backscattering Spectroscopy”. The period 2017-2019 Ms Tsampa attended the interdepartmental MSc program of the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences at the National Technical University of Athens (2018-2019). Kalliopi Tsampa MSc thesis was conducted at the XRF Laboratory of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics of NCSR “Demokritos” (2018-2019) with the subject: “Macroscopic X-ray fluorescence (MA-XRF) imaging and quantitative characterization of Platinum Group Mineral inclusions in Mycenean gold signet rings”. She has acquired extensive experience in field XRF measurements and in the analysis, calibration and quantification of MA-XRF imaging data. In March 2019, Kalliopi Tsampa has also participated in a synchrotron radiation experiment at the XRF beamline of Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste aimed to study X-ray resonant Raman scattering on gold atoms.
Angelos Laoutaris is a Ph.D. student of the University of Crete since 2016. He has completed his M.Sc. in Physics and Technical Applications at the National and Technical University of Athens in 2016 and his Bachelor in Physics at the University of Athens in 2014.
During his bachelor studies he participated in the Cosmic Rays group of the University of Athens under Prof. E.C. Mavromichalaki studying geomagnetic storms and completed an internship at the Tandem Laboratory of N.C.S.R. “Demokritos” studying X-Ray Fluorescence, PIXE and PIGE methods of sample analysis.
During his master studies he participated in the APAPES group (Atomic Physics with Accelerators, Projectile electron Spectroscopy), an atomic physics group hosted at the tandem laboratory of N.C.S.R. “Demokritos”, where he designed and supervised the construction and installation of an ion post-stripper on the system of the tandem Van de Graaff accelerator, under the supervision of Prof. Theo Zouros.
Currently he is a member of the APAPES group and his research focuses on the field of accelerator-based atomic physics at the 5.5 MV tandem accelerator at the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics at the National Center for Scientific Research – “Demokritos” in Athens, where a beam line dedicated to atomic physics has been developed and a unit for the high resolution Auger spectroscopy of Projectile Ions has been setup funded through the program APAPES (ESPA 2007-2013).
Born in 1994, S. Nanos, studied physics at the University of Ioannina (UOI), Greece and graduated in 2017. Ηis undergraduate thesis was titled: “Evaluation of the lifetimes of the metastable state 1s2s2p 4PJ”. In summer 2018 he was selected to participate to HGS-HIRe Summer Student Program at Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung GSI, Darmstadt, Germany. There, he worked for two months at the ESR internal target station. In 2019, he received his MSc degree from UOI. For his diploma thesis entitled “Electron capture to the continuum in fast collisions of protons with gas targets”, he carried measurements at the Tandem Accelerator Laboratory of INPP, NCSR "Demokritos", where he is currently working as a researcher in atomic physics with accelerators. His plans for the future is to continue working in atomic physics research leading to a PhD. Until now, he has 2 publications in refereed international journals and 1 publication at conference proceedings.
